What this app is
The drawings keep coming home. The fridge fills up, a folder fills up, and you take a photo of each one "so it's saved." Then you never open that photo again. PaperFriend (Android, version 1.0.0) is built for that situation. You photograph a drawing your child made on white paper, and the app turns it into a 3D paper doll that you can stand up in your own room using AR.
It is made for parents of young children, roughly ages 3 to 9, who want a way to keep a drawing other than sticking it on the fridge. The problem it addresses is simple. Drawings pile up, throwing them away feels wrong, and photos tend to sit unopened. PaperFriend gives the drawing a second life as an object you can place in a room and look at from different angles.
Two details set it apart from other drawing apps. First, it does not redraw anything. Many apps use AI to regenerate a child's picture into something polished. PaperFriend uses the lines and colors your child actually drew as the texture of the doll. The figure that appears is recognizably the child's own drawing, not a new picture from an unfamiliar style. Second, the conversion happens on the device. According to the app's documentation, there is no server upload path for the drawing at all, so the drawing does not leave the phone.
